On Brunch Love ...
I adore leisurely weekends...life is so busy and full that when a free weekend sprouts up, my brain and body thank me. Why's that? Because I have time to slow down and do some of the things I love. For me, that undoubtedly includes cooking. I'm known to have a food idea, google a bunch of recipes and then make one up from that. I love cooking because it's an expression of love to yourself and others, there's a strong creative element, and the act of chopping, grilling, sauteing, mixing is all mindless and therapeutic. And then I get to eat a delicious meal that I know is doing good things (mostly, depending on what I've whipped up) for my body!
I also love recipes that come with a story and bring history into a room. I have a recipe binder of family goodies, friend favorites and any others that I stumble across that attach a feel good memory. And it never fails that when I'm cooking those and sharing, special memories come out and are re-experienced.
Brunch is my most favorite meal; for me it echoes slow mornings in cozy clothes, and weekend days with no where to go. Today's menu? Mushroom spinach goat cheese frittata with turkey bacon and rye toast. Yum!
So here's to leisurely weekends doing things you love. What soul-filling goodness will you get up to this weekend? Whatever it is, enjoy it with all you've got!
